Rebecca Kibler - Student Conservation Association Intern joins New Hampshire NRCS
This summer, the New Hampshire Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with
the Student Conservation Association (SCA) allowing us to partner and bring
their conservation-based interns to assist New Hampshire NRCS. SCA is based in
Charlestown, New Hampshire and provides opportunities for students to gain hands-on
education and work experience with natural resource agencies throughout the
United States.
The
New Hampshire NRCS has recently added the final of three SCA interns to serve
12-month internships in the Durham State Office. Rebecca Kibler arrived on
October 1, 2007 and will be serving as a Conservation Easement Monitoring
Specialist working with the Conservation Easement Monitoring Team.
Originally from a small town in western Massachusetts, Rebecca graduated from
the University of Rhode Island (URI) in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Coastal and Marine Policy and Management. While a student at URI, Rebecca was
awarded a fellowship position with the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program through
URI's coastal fellowship program. After graduation, Rebecca took a 12-month SCA
position as a coastal resources planner with the New York State Department of
State Division of Coastal Resources in Albany, New York. Rebecca spent the past year
as a substitute teacher in both elementary and high schools near her hometown. Rebecca’s other interests include literature (reading and writing), photography,
and hiking.
