Washington, D.C. - Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. announced that a $3 million contract has been awarded to GEM Technologies, Inc. by the Department of Energy.

The contract is for providing engineering and technical support to the DOE Office of the Assistant Manager for Nuclear Fuel Supply in regulatory oversight and arming of guards at the Paducah, Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plants, and Oak Ridge.

GEM Technologies is a Knoxville-based small business that was founded in 1994.  The knowledge and experience of its employees allows the company to provide a wide variety of engineering and construction services.  GEM Technologies has supported numerous projects with the federal government and private industry.

"Small businesses are an essential part of the country's economy and I am pleased the Department of Energy has recognized GEM Technologies' great potential," said Congressman Duncan.  "These contract awards allow companies like GEM Technologies to bring expertise and experience to a project that may otherwise be overlooked."
