Congressman Davis Named To Agriculture Committee February 13, 2003

-- U.S. Representative Lincoln Davis (TN-04) secured a seat today on the Agriculture Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Agriculture Committee's role includes the farm bill and rural economic conditions, crop insurance, agricultural trade, commodity futures trading, agricultural research and promotion, conservation, farm credit, welfare and food nutrition programs, and food safety inspection.

"Serving on the Agriculture Committee will give me the opportunity to use my lifetime experience as a farmer and will help me be a strong advocate for the farmers and rural people of the 4th District," Davis said.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Virginia) will chair the committee, and Rep. Charles Stenholm (D-Texas) will serve as the ranking Democratic member on the committee.

Congressman Davis is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, House Science Committee and is a member of the Congressional Blue Dog Coalition.
