Libraries across the country are seeing an upsurge in activity in response to the nation’s economic environment. To help libraries meet public demand, it is especially important that people who administer federal library grants have the tools they need. This week, IMLS is hosting a meeting in Washington, DC, with state representatives that have responsibility for managing IMLS's largest program of support for the nation’s libraries, the IMLS Library Grants to States program. State Library Administrative Agencies use these funds to expand library services, develop networks and partnerships and target broad and diverse publics. Read more

Steve Eases Online Searches of Museum Web Sites
For museums seeking greater and more engaged audiences for their online collections, steve.museum may offer some answers. The concept is simple: individuals contribute descriptions about the art (and other collection objects) on museum Web sites using the steve tagger, a free, open-source software tool developed by the steve.museum project.
