Disease / Condition
National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC) Disease/Condition Browse is based on the U.S. National Library of
Medicine's (NLM) Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) classification.
MeSH terms are arranged hierarchically with more specific concepts ("sub-concepts")
arranged beneath broader concepts.
Browse Tips:
- You can view all guidelines linked to a concept and its sub-concepts or
continue to move through the browse list to find guidelines linked to a
more specific sub-concept.
- The link labeled "List all guidelines" is designed to display a list of
all guidelines linked to the concept you've chosen, as well as its sub-concepts.
This functions similar to the "explode" or "expand" commands used in searching.
For example: Cardiovascular Diseases - (8) guidelines
List all guidelines

concept "Cardiovascular Diseases" as well as those guidelines linked to
any of its sub-concepts (e.g., "Heart Diseases", "Myocardial Infarction").
- As you move through the browse list, you can always return to a previous
level by clicking on the appropriate link. You can return to the broader concepts
in the hierarchy by clicking on the term that is at the next highest level in the
hierarchy. Sub-concepts are always indented under the broader concept.
Once you have displayed a list of guidelines, you can choose to:
- Display a guideline summary for a particular title (the default view is the
