WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Special Oversight
Panel on Terrorism Chairman Jim Saxton (NJ-3rd), will hold a public hearing
of the panel on Friday, June 28.
Officials from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps will
discuss how they have transformed themselves in the wake of 9-11 to conduct
anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism operations.
Panel meetings are often classified, but Saxton decided
to open the hearing due to increased public interest in terrorism issues
and how the military is evolving to combat the new threat. The hearing
is the first in a series of panel hearings.
The meeting will take place at 8:30 a.m. in Room
2212 of the House Rayburn Building.
Saxton is a senior member of the House Armed Services
Committee, and is the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee's
Subcommittee on Military Installations and Facilities. He was appointed
to chair the Oversight Panel by House Speaker Dennis Hastert and Armed
Services Chairman Bob Stump. |
