Summary

GAO reviewed the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) new rule on Wireless E911 Location Accuracy Requirements. GAO found that (1) the final rules requires wireless Enhanced 911 Phase II location accuracy and reliability standards at a geographical level defined by the coverage area of a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP); and (2) and FCC complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
