Summary

GAO reviewed the Department of Energy's (DOE) new rule on energy conservation standards for residential furnaces and boilers. GAO found that (1) the final rule revises the energy conservation standards for residential furnaces and boilers, which will result in the conservation of energy, are technologically feasible, and economically justified; and (2) with the exception of the delay in the effective date, DOE complied with the applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
