Congressman Akin to Vote For Enhanced GI Bill and St. Louis made C-17 Aircraft

Washington, DC – Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO), ranking member of the House Armed Services Oversight & Investigations subcommittee, released the following statement in advance of voting for the Iraq and Afghanistan Supplemental funding bill, which includes an updated GI bill and 15 additional C-17’s.

“I am proud to support this clean version of the supplemental funding bill for Iraq and Afghanistan.  In particular, the updated and expanded GI Bill benefits contained in the bill will help our troops and their families get a better education.  Our men and women in uniform make great sacrifices and providing them with good educational benefits is one way we can show our appreciation.

“I am also proud to report that this bill includes funding for 15 additional C-17 aircraft, which the Air Force needs, and which will keep the production line in St. Louis active.”
