Congressional Budget Justifications
The Library's Congressional Budget Justifications (CBJs) are submitted annually to the Congress, specifically to the Appropriations Subcommittee for the Legislative Branch. The CBJ represents the Library's annual funding request to the Congress and provides important information about the Library's programs, projects, and activities, organizational performance targets relating to the Library's Strategic Plan, and the resources needed to acieve the Library's performance goals. Each CBJ includes information about three concurrent fiscal years; the prior year, the current year, and the (upcoming) request year. Prior and current year funding levels usually reflect actual amounts enacted in annual appropriations, whereas the request year represents what the Library hopes to receive in funding support from the Congress.
