Commercial Driver Training School Lic.
A Commercial Driver Training School License authorizes a school to provide classroom and/or behind-the-wheel instruction to students learning to safely drive a motor vehicle. Vehicles include, but are not limited to cars, trucks, motorhomes, motorcycles, etc.

How to Qualify/Apply
  1. Complete a Commercial Driver Training School Application form (Form 6050).
  2. Pay a $200 application fee.
  3. Provide proof of:
    • $2,500 bond,
    • Insurance in the amount of $50,000/$100,000/$25,000, and
    • Schedule of maximum fees for instruction.
  4. Register your school name with the Secretary of State Corporation Division and provide registry number.
  5. Provide a list of all instructors and training vehicles used by your school.
    • Training vehicles must be equipped with dual controls of a type approved by DMV.

Duration
License expires on last day of the calendar year (December 31), regardless of when it was issued.

Renewals
To renew, another properly completed application form, proof of insurance and application fee are required. The new license will be mailed to the school upon processing of the fee, application and insurance.
