Energy Information for Residents
On average, Oregonians spend 15 percent of their total energy use on their homes. Most people don´t know what eats up the energy dollars they spend on their homes each month. It might surprise you to know that the typical Oregon household spends about $165 a year just for showers and baths. Other typical expenses include:
Refrigerator: $90
Clothes washer: $60
Dishwasher: $47
Water heater heat loss: $75
You can take simple steps on your own to reduce your home´s energy use and your energy bills. You can also make sure that you use your home appliances (pdf) efficiently and buy new ones that are energy savers. And for the bigger projects, we can help. Our programs can help you conserve energy, improve your home´s energy efficiency and install cost-effective alternative energy systems.
