What to do if you get a bill for health care services

Health care providers generally cannot bill medical assistance clients. (A bill is not a copayment. If you have questions about copayments, see the Frequently Asked Questions about copayments.)

If you do receive a bill for health care services, take care of it right away by following the steps below. If you don't take care of it right away, it may be sent to a collection agency.

  • Contact your health care provider's office to make sure they know you are on the Oregon Health Plan, and provide them with correct billing information.
  • If you are in a managed care plan, contact your plan's office and tell them you received a bill.
  • If you still need help, send a copy of the bill to the OMAP Client Advisory Services Unit at:

    OMAP - CASU
    500 Summer St, NE, E35
    Salem, OR 97301-1077

Remember to take your OMAP Medical Care ID with you to all health care appointments and show it to the office staff. If you are in a managed care plan, make sure your health care providers know what plan you are in.
