Mental Health Treatment
The Oregon Department of Corrections provides several levels of mental health treatment along with individualized case management. Mental health services are targeted to inmates with severe or persistent mental illness. Short-term services are available to inmates who are not mentally ill, but who show high suicide potential, or who are experiencing other emotional distress.
Behavioral Health Services is led under the direction of Jana Russell, Behavioral Health Services Administrator.

Developmental Disability
The Oregon Department of Corrections provides intake screening, individualized case management and day treatment for inmates with mental retardation or developmental disabilities.

HIV/HEPC
The Oregon Department of Corrections provides HIV and Hepatitis C education, testing, and counseling. Basic information classes are provided to all inmates at the time of intake. Risk reduction classes are also provided for all inmates prior to release. Structured confidential test counseling is provided to assess infection risk to secure informed consent for testing, to educate for behavioral change, and to explain test results. Brief supportive counseling is provided to newly seropositive and AIDS diagnosed inmates. Limited ongoing counseling is available for AIDS diagnosed inmates.
