Committee Assignments
Committees in the House have four primary powers: to conduct hearings and investigations, to draft bills and resolutions and amendments to them, to report legislation to the House for its possible consideration, and to oversee executive branch performance. Committees are integral to the work of Congress in determining the policy needs of the nation and acting on them. Representative Johnson serves on the following committees:
Committee on Agriculture
The Committee on Agriculture oversees the farm bill and rural economic conditions, crop insurance, agricultural trade, commodity futures trading, agricultural research and promotion, conservation, farm credit, welfare and food nutrition programs, and food safety inspection.
Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
- Subcommittee on Highways and Transit
- Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Material
The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has jurisdiction over many federal administrations such as: the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), Public Building Service (PBS), General Services Administration (GSA), Economic Development Administration (EDA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
