REP. JOHNSON ANNOUNCES HOMELAND SECURITY GRANTS

Washington, D.C. -  U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today announced the award of five U.S. Department of Homeland Security grants to local governments throughout the 15th Congressional District.

“I’m proud to announce the award of these grants to pay for equipment that is vital to the efficient and safe delivery of services by our first responders,” Rep. Johnson said. “This equipment will serve the needs of rural areas and rural communities, which are the bulk of my district.”

The awards are made from the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP). The program provides small communities and rural areas with technology and equipment together with training and technical assistance to help first responder capabilities throughout the nation.

CEDAP provides equipment in the following categories: personal protective equipment; thermal imaging, night vision and video surveillance tools; chemical and biological detection tools; information technology and risk management tools; and communication equipment.

Recipients in the 15th Congressional District are as follows:

               Sullivan Police Department, thermal imager.
               Pontiac Police Department, thermal imager.
Wabash County Health Department, decision support technology.
Gibson City Fire Protection District, personal protective equipment.
