REP. JOHNSON ANNOUNCES GRANT FOR POTOMAC FIRE TRUCK

Washington, D.C. -  U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today announced a $175,750 grant for the Potomac-based Bluegrass Fire Protection District.

The grant will be used for a new pumper truck. Fire Chief Garry Hawker said the department has been applying for the grant for several years. The 25-person department covers a 105-square-mile region around Potomac.

The award is part of the latest round of grants awarded nationally this year through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters grant program.

The program is a competitive funding initiative designed to strengthen the preparedness of the nation’s first responders. Rep. Johnson has obtained more than $1.2 million in grants for departments around the district this year.

(For more information, reporters may also contact Mr. Hawker at 987-6189.)
