BROCTON, IL. - U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today announced the award of a $44,153 grant to the Brocton Fire Protection District for the purchase of turnout gear and related safety equipment.
The award is part of the sixth round of grants awarded nationally this year through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters grant program.
“The Brocton Fire Protection District provides a vital service in northeastern Edgar County and the surrounding area. I am especially pleased to work for this award given demands on the district and the work these individuals do,” Rep. Johnson said.
The Assistance to Firefighters Program is a competitive funding initiative designed to strengthen the preparedness of the nation’s first responders. Last month, Rep. Johnson announced more than $1 million in 10 grants assisting departments throughout the 15th Congressional District.
