Washington, D.C. -  U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today announced the award of four grants to fire departments within the 15^th Congressional District.

   The grant recipients are as follows:

               Eastern Prairie Fire Protection District, serving a region north of Champaign, $18,172.

               Brocton Fire Protection District, Edgar County, $65,028.

               Champaign Fire Department, $107,738.

               Cornbelt Fire Protection District, Mahomet, $183,587.

   The grants are generally for operations and safety purposes and are made through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.

   “This is a valuable source of funding for our departments throughout the district and is the kind of help I’m happy to advocate for,” Rep. Johnson said. “These grants have been extremely helpful in getting our first-responders the tools they need to do their very difficult jobs.”

   The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is part of the Administration’s larger, coordinated effort to strengthen the nation’s overall preparedness for fire and emergency-related disasters.
