How do I use my tax exemption
when I renew my vehicle registration?
Unfortunately, Internet, kiosk and telephone renewals cannot process address changes, apply tax exemptions or use fee credits. Please mail your renewal if you want to use fee credits, a Veterans exemption or any other tax exemption.

I did not receive a renewal
notice. What do I do?
The most common cause of this is an incorrect address.
Please e-mail
your license plate or driver license number and current address or call for instructions. You may also
renew in person at a DMV office. If we do not have your correct address, we will ask you to mail or fax a Change
of Address Application with your renewal.
If you renew a registration online
prior to changing your address, your documents will be sent to the address we have on record. DMV will charge a
small fee for substitute decals.
We do not mail renewal notices if
your license or registration is suspended, cancelled, revoked or if your
registration is expired more than one year. In
these cases, a DMV office visit will be necessary. If you have received a post asking you to renew your driver's license in person, you must renew at a DMV office.
It is your responsibility to renew on time regardless of
whether you have received a notice.

I am out of the state.
Can I renew online? If not, how can I renew?
Please keep your address current
with us as you travel. Mail or fax a Change of Address
Application.
Driver License: You
can renew your driver license online if you have received a renewal
notice. In mosty cases,. a new license will be mailed to the address we have on
file. If this is an incorrect address or if you did not receive a
notice, please renew by mail. See Driver License
Renewal Options.
If you have received a post card
asking you to renew in person, you must do so. If you cannot get to a
Nevada DMV office, you cannot renew your license. The only exception
to this is made for active-duty military members.
Active-duty military members and
Nevadans out-of-state who are eligible to renew by mail can complete an Application
for Nevada Driver License by Mail. Please call or e-mail your name,
Nevada driver license and current address before using this form. See Driver License Renewal Options for more information.

registration slip and decal will be sent to the address we have on
file. If we do not have your correct address, you may not receive the
documents.
If your vehicle requires a smog
check and you cannot have it done in Nevada, you cannot renew online. Please renew by mail and include an Emission Control Residency Affidavit.

Why
were my registration fees charged online higher than those listed on
the renewal notice?
Your renewal was late and the system automatically added in the
appropriate late fees. Nevada registrations expire on the exact date
listed on the registration slip and renewal notice, not at the end of
the month. There are no extra charges for renewing online.

I completed an online renewal
but did not receive my registration decal or driver license/ID card.
An incorrect address is the most common cause of this and DMV will
assess a small fee to issue new documents. If the
mistake involves a DMV or postal error, the new documents can be issued at no
charge. You will have to mail or fax a Change
of Address Application.
Please wait 7-10 days for your
renewal to arrive. If it has not arrived within 10 days, please e-mail
your current address and plate or driver license number, visit a DMV
office or call 486-4368 option 4, option 5 in Las Vegas, 684-4368 option 6
in Reno or 1-877-368-7828 option 6 in rural Nevada.
Your registration or license
record is updated instantly upon completion of the transaction and will show
current to police. The documents are printed and mailed from Carson City
within two business days.
