(August 2, 2006) City of Bell Gardens - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) is shown with Bell Gardens Mayor Pedro Aceituno, Pamela Yugar, Director of Recreation and Community Services, and Councilman Daniel Crespo as they tour the new Bell Gardens Sports Complex at Ford Park. With the assistance of $400,000 in federal funds that the congresswoman helped to secure last year for a transportation center at the complex, the city constructed the multi-million dollar facility which will be open to the community for soccer, baseball, tennis, golf and other sports. The City of Bell Gardens has also entered into an agreement with the professional soccer organization Chivas Regal USA which will use the facility as a practice field. Prior to the city tour, the congresswoman is pictured in the second photo with Bell Gardens City Manager John Ornelas, city councilmembers, and city staff who updated her on several of the city’s latest developments, all of which were developed with the assistance of federal funds secured by the congresswoman.
