Hispanic Caucus Praises Appointment of Caldera to Military Office

(Washington DC) – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) applauded the naming of Louis Caldera to head the Military Office of the Obama White House. In this role, Mr. Caldera will serve as the primary advisor to the White House for all military support, including Department of Defense assets.

“I am pleased that a dear friend and former colleague, Louis Caldera, has been named for such an important position in the Obama White House,” said Congressman Joe Baca, Chair of the CHC. “He has served the people of California and the nation greatly, from his time in the California State Assembly where we served together, to his time as the nation’s 17th Secretary of the Army. I am confident he will be an outstanding Director of the White House Military Office.”

Congressman Xavier Becerra, the Vice Chair-elect of the Democratic Caucus, added, “Louis Caldera has served our country with honor and professionalism, in uniform and as a public servant. I applaud President-elect Obama on his excellent choice of Louis Caldera to lead the White House Military Office.”

“President-elect Obama continues to assemble a talented and diverse staff and I applaud this latest announcement.  Former Army Secretary Caldera will bring a wealth of knowledge to the White House and our country will be well served by his experience,” said Congressman Charlie Gonzalez, 1st Vice Chair-elect of the CHC.

“I congratulate Louis Caldera on his appointment by President-elect Barack Obama to serve as Director of the White House Military Office,” Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard said. “Louis’ experience and service to our country while in the military, as an educator in the classroom, and in elected office make him particularly well suited for this important position. I’m certain he will serve the nation as he served my home state of California, with great commitment, honor and distinction.”
