Compendium of Federal Justice Statistics, 2000Presents national-level statistics describing all aspects of case processing in the Federal criminal justice system, including arrests by Federal law enforcement agencies, investigations and prosecutions by U.S. attorneys, pretrial release and detention, adjudication in the U.S. district courts, sentencing, appeal of convictions and/or sentences imposed, and corrections, for the 12-month period ending September 30, 2000. Data are provided to BJS by all components of the Federal Justice System. BJS has maintained Federal justice data for the period since 1980. Highlights of the 2000 report include the following:
