Comprised of documents judged by the staff of the National Archives to be essential in the development of the United States from its founding to 1965, “Our Documents” begins with a forward by award-winning historian Michael Beschloss, a preface by John W. Carlin, Archivist of the United States, and an essay on how the documents were selected. The entry for each document includes a short introduction, a facsimile, and a transcript of the document.
