It would appear that some Macs without Samsung panels also have this same Manufacture Code. The game is still afoot!

about 99% sure the new displays are S-PVA panels made by Samsung. Same panel which is in the XL24 which costs $2,300 :P

Looks like a Samsung panel perhaps, got some info from the Colorsync Profile

Tried dumping the EDID info for new Cinema Display and it still wont give up the panel into ;(

@pilky one thing I didnt mention is you can dim the backlight a lot dimmer than the iMac. There's a much bigger range in the LED display.

@pilky I know, I keep my iMac turned down to 1 dot at almost all times. This thing is at max brightness right now and burning my retina
