2009 Master Gardener's Class The Macon County Center of NC Cooperative Extension is taking applications for participation in the 'Master Gardener Program'. The 'Master Gardener Program' in North Carolina is a joint endeavor of North Carolina Cooperative Extension and gardening volunteers to help meet the educational needs of urban home gardener. Master Gardeners receive 42 hours of training in subjects including fruits, shade trees, ornamentals, lawn care, and vegetable culture. After successfully completing the training and the volunteer component of the program you will be certified as a Master Gardener. Classes begin in January. For an application and more information on the program, call the Extension office at 349-2046. Macon County Center gives our county's residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to Macon County citizens.
