Student Ambassador Program

What is a Student Ambassador?

Student Ambassadors are students who have participated in an internship at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The purpose of the Student Ambassadors is to assist the LANL HR-Organizational Management office with recruiting, outreach efforts and promotion of student internships.

The general responsibilities of a Student Ambassador include being a highly informed advocate for the Laboratory, helping staff at college career fairs and information sessions, and assisting in advertising on-campus events and job opportunities by posting posters on campus and talking to fellow students. When students leave the Laboratory for the summer, the HR-Staffing office serves as a connection to the Laboratory.

Student Ambassadors Benefits

Students who participate in the program will be given an opportunity to develop networking, communication and leadership skills. HR-Organizational Management would like to enrich the experience students have while at the Laboratory and work on building a pipeline for early career development.

Additional benefits include:

  • networking with staff members at LANL;
  • opportunities to represent LANL at on-campus events;
  • a link back to the Laboratory;
  • looks great on your résumé;
  • helping peers to get a clear picture of what it is like to work at LANL and live in New Mexico.

To apply to be a Student Ambassador, complete the Student Ambassador Application (pdf).

If you have any questions related to the program, contact Ben Fresquez, Student Ambassador Coordinator.
