National Scenic Byways Online (NSBO) is the Internet development, website research, and online application support team for the National Scenic Byways program. Since 1996, NSBO has worked to support the four main purposes of the National Scenic Byways program, which are:

  • To market America's Byways®
  • To provide Byway Community support
  • To publish FHWA information
  • To maintain an inventory of all byways in the U.S.

Who's Involved

Several organizations have a hand in National Scenic Byways Online:

  • Federal Highway Administration: Located in Washington, DC, they run the National Scenic Byways Program and provide funding via discretionary grants for scenic byways projects.
  • Utah State University (USU): Located in Logan, UT, this is the home of National Scenic Byways Online. The University provides NSBO with facilities, equipment, project management, data acquisition, and research and development.
  • Multimedia Data Services Corporation (MDSC): Located in Logan, UT, they provide NSBO with software development, site operations and administration, and customer support.
  • America's Byways Resource Center (ABRC): Located in Duluth, MN, they maintain contact information and archives of past publications for the National Scenic Byways Program, as well as provide technical support for the Byway Community.
