VERDICT TO BE ANNOUNCED IN PAN AM 103 TRIAL


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Scottish High Court judges will hand down the verdict in the Lockerbie bombing trial on Wednesday, January 31, at 5 a.m., EST. The decision will be issued at the specially-constructed courthouse at Camp Zeist in the Netherlands.

Those family members of the victims of Pan Am 103, who are not at the court in Holland, may attend a viewing of the verdict at remote sites in Washington, D.C. and New York City.

Members of the media may interview family members who wish to speak to the press at the following locations:

The plane, which blew up over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21, 1988, killed a total of 270 persons, 189 of them Americans. Eleven people on the ground were killed.

The Libyan defendants, Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi and Lamen Khalifa Fhimah, surrendered in April 1999, and stood trial in a neutral country after nearly a decade of economic sanctions.
