ATTORNEY GENERAL RENO TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE


     WASHINGTON, DC--Attorney General Janet Reno will address a
White House Community Empowerment Conference on Thursday,
February 22, 1996 at the Mayflower Hotel at 12:15 pm.  She will
be talking about the Justice Department's efforts to curb youth
violence and the importance of community wide coordination in
addressing this problem.
     
     Vice President Gore will be hosting the conference.  The
conference will bring together leaders from 15 of the urban and
rural empowerment zones and enterprise communities designated by
President Clinton as part of the Empowerment Zone/Enterprise
Community Initiative.
