International Terrorism Victim Expense Reimbursement Program - Report to the Congress, 2007
This annual Office for Victims Crime report highlights information and data covering October 2006 through May 2007. It provides the background of the International Terrorism Victim Expense Reimbursement Program (ITVERP), procedures for filing and processing applications for reimbursement, a statistical analysis of applications received and victims assisted, and future program needs and suggested improvements. Improving Police Communications Across State and County Lines: The Piedmont Regional Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Pilot Project
This report describes the adoption of new radio technology in the Danville, Virginia, police department and surrounding law enforcement agencies in Virginia and North Carolina. Integrating this new radio technology with existing data communications equipment enables swift, direct communication within and across jurisdictions and solves issues of interoperability of different voice radio systems. Strategies to Prevent Prison Rape by Changing the Correctional Culture
This National Institute of Justice report explores successful strategies and programs for addressing the problem of sexual violence in state prisons. A research team from the Urban Institute and the Association of State Correctional Administrators interviewed prison officials in 45 states. This report presents promising initiatives and practices identified in 11 states. (NCJ 222843)

Civil Bench and Jury Trials in State Courts, 2005
This Bureau of Justice Statistics special report discusses general civil cases (tort, contract, and real property) concluded by a bench or jury trial in a national sample of jurisdictions in 2005. Topics include the types of civil cases that proceed to trial, the differences between civil cases adjudicated by judges or juries, and the types of plaintiffs and defendants represented in civil trials.
