South Carolina Murder Suspect Arrested in
Cincinnati |
|
James M. Wahlrab, United States Marshal for the
Southern District of Ohio, announces the arrest of Edmond Luis Goodman, AKA
“Dewey Goodman”. Goodman was wanted by the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s
Department in connection with the 7-18-2008 murder of Jason White, 26 years
old. The United States Marshals Service’s Southern Ohio Fugitive
Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), consists of Cincinnati Police Department,
Hamilton County Sheriffs Department, Drug Enforcement Administration,
Lockland Police Department, Butler County Sheriffs Department, Ohio Adult
Parole Authority, Warren County Prosecutors Office, and Department Of
Agriculture Inspector Generals Office.
On the night of July 18, 2008, the suspect and victim were at a gathering
with numerous suspected drug dealers, when it is believed that Edmund
Goodman got into an altercation with the victim. During the altercation,
Goodman brandished a firearm and shot the victim in the face. Goodman then
fled South Carolina in the victim’s car. The vehicle was later located in
the Baltimore, Maryland area. Goodman was located in the Baltimore area, but
managed to elude authorities.
At approximately 6:00pm on October 10, 2008, information was generated that
placed Goodman at 659 Delhi Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio. SOFAST surrounded the
residence and affected the arrest without incident. Goodman is currently
being housed at the Hamilton County Justice Center where he will face
extradition proceedings back to South Carolina.
The U.S. Marshals Service is America’s oldest federal law enforcement agency
and arrest more fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies
combined.
