U.S. Marshals Arrest Injured Burglary Suspect Two Weeks
After His Release From Grady Memorial Hospital

SERFTF LogoAtlanta, GA - On May 6, 2008, investigators with the U.S. Marshal Service's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) apprehended Darick Randolph Jordan at a relative's house in College Park, Georgia. Jordan was wanted by the Douglas County, GA Sheriff's Office for four counts of burglary. Injured after crashing his fleeing vehicle, Jordan had been in Grady Memorial Hospital until he was released without notification to law enforcement.

It all began for Darick Jordan, age 20, on April 4, 2008 in Douglas County. Neighbors noticed Jordan and others allegedly burglarizing houses on their street. They called the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and provided them with a detailed description of a vehicle used by the subjects and the clothing Jordan and the others were wearing. Responding Deputy Sheriffs passed the vehicle and turned around to follow it. Upon catching up to the vehicle, deputies discovered that it had crashed. Jordan was injured in the crash and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. He had been a patient at Grady Memorial since then and was released from the hospital just two weeks later without Douglas County ever being notified of his release. It was then that Douglas County asked the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force for help in locating Jordan.

Investigators soon learned that Jordan was staying with relatives at the Poplar Pointe Apartments in College Park. After establishing surveillance, investigators were soon able to observe Jordan walking around inside the apartment. This observance was made easy by the fact that Jordan was still wearing a large neck brace from the crash. Investigators subsequently made entry into the residence and arrested Jordan without incident. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail to face the burglary charges.

The U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the United States Marshals Service, as well as, 27 other local, state and federal agencies.
