U.S. Marshals Arrest Oregon Federal Fugitive Accused of being a Serial
Bank Robber

Florence, OR - On April 2, 2008, the United States Marshals Service (USMS), Oregon
Fugitive Task Force, arrested Ronald Green, a white male, 45 years of age and
former Veneta, OR resident, for Escape From Federal Custody. Green was arrested today
in Florence, Oregon at a private residence on Skunkhollow Rd. At the time of his escape,
Green was in the custody of the United States Bureau of Prisons and was serving out a
sentence for a 2002 federal bank robbery conviction in Portland, OR.

Since his escape in October, 2007, Green has been identified as the suspect in multiple
violent offenses across Western United States. Soon after being notified of his escape
status, Green’s employer, Bear Creek Corporation supplied Green with his payroll check
despite being notified of his violations. After picking up his check at Bear Creek
Corporation, Green is accused of stealing a vehicle in Medford, OR, then proceeding to
Grants Pass where he is accused of stealing a license plate off of another vehicle in the
local Wal-Mart parking lot. Green then proceeded north on I-5 in where he was then
accused of theft of gasoline from a gas station in Cottage Grove, OR. Shortly after the
theft of the gas, the Lane County Sheriff’s Department spotted the stolen vehicle driven
by Green traveling on I-5 north of Eugene. The Lane County Sheriff’s Department
attempted to stop the vehicle Green had been driving in excess of 135 miles per hour by
deploying spike strips in the north bound lanes on I-5. Upon running over the spike strips
and blowing out all four of his tires, Green then drove down an embankment where he
exited the vehicle a fled on foot into a swampy area. Green eluded capture by the Lane
County Sheriff’s Department at that time.

Since his narrow escape from the Lane County Sheriff’s Department, Green has been
identified as the suspect in 11 bank robberies across the Western United States including
Salem, Oregon; Fresno, California; Sacramento, California; Vacaville, California;
Henderson, Nevada; Las Vegas, Nevada; American Fork, Utah; Provo, Utah. Green’s
most recent bank robbery took place on March 17, 2008 when he was identified as the
person who robbed the Washington Mutual Bank in Medford, OR. At the time of his
arrest, U.S. Marshals, Oregon State Police, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and Florence
Police were all present since Green had been the subject of a large manhunt by numerous
authorities throughout the west.

Green is currently being held at the Lane County Jail in Eugene, OR where he is awaiting
a court appearance for the federal escape charge.
