“Bonnie & Clyde” Captured By U.S.
Marshals and Police in Texas: Suspects in Pensacola Murder |
|
Houston, TX - The U.S. Marshals
North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force announces the arrest of
Bertney Hill and Bonnie Strong; two suspects wanted in a murder that
took place several weeks ago in Pensacola. The two alleged murderers
were apprehended in a suburb just outside of Houston Sunday
afternoon. Hill and Strong, who dubbed themselves, “Bonnie & Clyde”,
are being sought for the murder of Patrick Williams that took place
at the Oakwood Terrace Apartments several weeks ago. According to
police reports, in the early morning hours of November 18, Hill and
Strong, allegedly shot Williams in the face with a large caliber
handgun inside of an apartment during what was believed to be a drug
deal rip-off. Hill and Strong then allegedly tried to hide William’s
body in his own truck which was found later in the parking lot of a
local business located off of Fairfield Drive in Pensacola.
The U.S. Marshals fugitive task force in Pensacola worked with the
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office; often relying on help from
Investigators from their Warrant Squad and their HIP (High Intensity
Policing) and their Intelligence Units. Once the Marshals’ Task
Force had learned that the fugitives had possibly fled to the
Houston area, they contacted the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent
Offender Task Force which covers that region. The Task Force, who
was cooperating with the Brookshire Police Department, determined
that the two were living with one of Strong’s relatives in the Park
Hill Apartments located at 14100 Rio Bonito Road in Brookshire, a
suburb just outside of Houston. A Brookshire Community Policing
Officer had recognized them from a flyer the Task Force had
circulated late last week.
“Their capture demonstrates the strength and cooperation of law
enforcement working together to take violent fugitives off of the
streets,” says U.S. Marshal Dennis Williamson.
Strong was arrested first when he was caught walking around outside
in the common area at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. Hill was picked up
about an hour later inside of an apartment. Both were taken into
custody without incident. At the time of their arrest no weapons
were found.
Both Hill and Strong were taken to Harris County Jail in Texas where
they will remain until extradited back to Escambia County. |
