Arrests Fugitive Charged with Aggravated Robbery |
|
Waco, TX - Today the United
States Marshals Service sponsored Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF)
arrested 23 year old Kamari Harp. Harp was wanted by the Temple
Police Department for the felony charge of Aggravated Robbery.
An arrest warrant was issued for Harp after an incident on November
20, 2007 in which Harp allegedly robbed a Kentucky Fried Chicken
restaurant in Temple Texas using a sawed-off shotgun. During this
robbery, Harp is accused of placing the shotgun to the chest of one
of the employees present and then fleeing with $1,700.00 cash. Harp
learned of the arrest warrant being issued and went on the run. The
LSFTF was then contacted for assistance by the Temple Police
Department after investigative leads led to the Waco area.
After several days of intense investigative efforts, the LSFTF
developed information Monday, December 03, 2007 that Harp had an
associate employed at the Providence Hospital in Waco TX. As Deputy
U.S. Marshals concluded the interview of the associate at his place
of employment and were leaving, Harp was observed sitting in a car
at the entrance to the hospital. As officers approached the
fugitive, Harp briefly fled in the vehicle before hitting a curb. He
then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, leading officers in a
foot pursuit throughout the hospital complex. At approximately 4:00
pm, Deputy U.S. Marshals found Harp hiding in the basement of the
facility and he was placed under arrest without further incident.
The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas
LaFayette Collins said, “Our tremendous success in bringing
fugitives such as Kamari Harp to justice is due to the dedication,
teamwork, and spirit of cooperation between our fugitive task force
member agencies.”
