(CRS) DIRECTOR SHAREE M. FREEMAN TO RELEASE THE NEWLY
DEVELOPED CRS FILM ENTITLED, “ON COMMON GROUND”

      WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Community Relations Service (CRS) Director Sharee M. Freeman and the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF) will host the premiere of a newly developed police roll call film entitled, “On Common Ground,” on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2007 at 4:30 P.M. EST at the Charles Sumner School located at 1201 17th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20036.  SALDEF and CRS developed the film together to serve as a tool for law enforcement to use to develop a better understanding of Sikh and South Asian Americans and their cultural practices in non-emergency situations.

      The Community Relations Service previously developed a film designed to educate law enforcement and community groups on Arab and Muslim Americans. The new film will serve as a compliment to this prior CRS film, “The First Three to Five Seconds,” that is so widely successfully that the Department of Homeland Security currently uses it to train all of their law enforcement staff.
