Public Law 109-57 Controlled Substances Export Reform Act of 2005

On August 2, 2005, President Bush signed into law the "Controlled Substances Export Reform Act of 2005," Public Law 109-57. This law amended the Controlled Substances Import and Export Act to provide authority for the Attorney General to authorize the export of controlled substances from the United States to another country for subsequent export from that country to a second country, if certain conditions and safeguards are satisfied. The promulgation of regulations is necessary to implement this new law. DEA is currently developing the proposed regulations, which will be published in the Federal Register upon completion. These proposed regulations will also be published by DEA on this website. For further information, please monitor this website for updates.
