| In North Dakota, a professional development workshop on organic vegetable production was planned during a 2006 SARE presentation and roundtable discussion with the Immigrant Development Center. Held in 2007, the workshop focused on providing information that extension educators and non-profit educators need to work with new immigrant communities interested in growing and marketing organic vegetables.
Frank Kutka has been the State Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator for North and South Dakota since 2005. He is also Assistant Director of the Dickinson Research Extension Center. Frank grew up in southeastern Wisconsin, and after completing degrees at the University of Wisconsin -Whitewater (biology) and at Iowa State (animal ecology), he and his wife Grace purchased a farm in northeast Minnesota. While in Minnesota, Frank worked for the University of Minnesota Natural Resources Research Institute doing aquatic ecology studies. He completed his degree in plant breeding from Cornell prior to moving with his family to Dickinson, North Dakota.
