  Art Reproductions Available at the Smithsonian
 
 

Information or research assistance regarding the availability of art reproductions is frequently requested from the Smithsonian Institution. The following information has been prepared by the Visitor Information and Associates' Reception Center's Public Inquiry Mail and Telephone Information Service Unit to assist those interested in obtaining art reproductions. Availability of materials and prices are subject to change.

Reproductions of artworks are usually available from the museum or gallery that houses the work in its collections. To determine which facility to write, we suggest you refer to art books in your local library and catalogues of art reproductions sources in galleries or print and framing shops in your area. You may also wish to contact the following:

HIRSHHORN MUSEUM AND SCULPTURE GARDEN Black-and-white photographs and color slides of the collections are available for loan or purchase, and transparencies for use in publications may be available for rent. To order, specify the artist's name and the title of the work and write to:

NATIONAL ANTHROPOLOGICAL ARCHIVES Historical and contemporary images documenting cultures around the world, including rare glass plate negatives from the Smithsonian's Bureau of American Ethnology, may be purchased as archival inkjet prints and high-resolution digital images.

THE SMITHSONIAN ASSOCIATES The Smithsonian Associates has available for purchase limited edition, signed, and numbered artwork created by internationally known artists. Among the artists commissioned since 1973 are Nancy Graves, Willem de Looper, Philip Guston, James Rosenquist, and Jacob Kainen.
