The “Building a  Healthier Community” program is a county wide collaboration between parents, schools, community members and community agencies seeking to create strategies to ensure the health and well being of children, families, and other adults in our community.  Franklin College students serve as AmeriCorps members in a wide variety of organizations exploring their careers, learning new skills and developing a passion to serve. AmeriCorps members will be serving with Habitat for Humanity chapters in the areas of construction, volunteer mobilization, family support and capacity building. Full and part time positions.

The Harmony-Corps Student Engagement Project is a program of the Harmony Education Center (HEC).  Harmony is based on the principal that the role of education in a democracy is to sensitize young people to the delicate balance between individual growth and community responsibility.  The mission of the Harmony-Corps Program is to stand as authentic allies for urban youth to create equitable outcomes in their school, community, and world.  Harmony-Corps members facilitate and support opportunities for youth leadership, youth-led programming, and family engagement in Indianapolis high schools and communities.  Full time positions.

Indiana Campus Compact Grow Indiana AmeriCorps members provide direct service and support to local 3rd-8th grade schools to increase both math awareness and student performance. Members will address the needs of the state of Indiana through the coordination and implementation of math tutor programs, while building relationships between higher education institutions, local community organizations and Indiana schools. Members provide leadership in the community and on campus promoting community involvement, service, and civic engagement. Full and part time positions.

Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring was founded by Dr. G. Roger Jarjoura, professor of criminal justice at Indiana University, in 1996.  AIM is a diverse team of dedicated AmeriCorps members and adult volunteers.  As mentors, we provide reentry support to incarcerated youths returning to communities throughout Indiana.  We provide effective role models that target unique needs of these youths, inspiring purpose, motivation and direction for as long as the youths are receptive to our help.

The Indiana Response and Preparedness Corps aims to help communities in northern and central Indiana effectively prepare for and respond to disasters. From teaching disaster preparedness classes to recruiting and mentoring new disaster volunteers to working with local businesses able to provide shelter in times of disaster, the Indiana Response and Preparedness Corps is preparing and helping communities before, during, and after a disaster strikes.

Socio-economically challenged neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis.

The Neighborhood After School Corps, an AmeriCorps program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis, provides services and programs to better the lives of youth in Marion County. Services focus strongly on leadership development programs and creating opportunities for youth to implement community service projects, but members offer a wide variety of programs and activities as well.  Additional  services such as tutoring, after school enrichment activities, summer day camps, conflict resolution skills, violence prevention skills, health education, and organized recreation are offered to meet the needs of low-income, vulnerable youth and their families in Indianapolis.
