Compassion Alaska is a unique program of Alaska’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI). The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families-Compassion Capital Fund (CCF). Alaska’s OFBCI was one of ten organizations to receive a CCF-Demonstration Grant in 2006. These funds are being used to provide capacity building tools and direct funding to grassroots, faith-based and community organizations across Alaska. Organizational Capacity Building refers to activities that improve an organization’s ability to achieve its mission effectively and to sustain itself over the long term (Compassion Capital Fund).
