The following are instructions for downloading and installing the LIBLICENSE Guide to Digital Information on your computer. (Now available [July 2001] in version 2.0. If you already have the earlier version, it will still be necessary to follow the instructions here to download and install the new version.)

System Requirements:

1.  IBM-PC or compatible running Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows Millennium.

2.  Minimum 15 mb of hard drive space for installation ( 10 mb after installation).

Installation Instructions

1.  Download liblicr2.exe [click on this link with the right mouse button and select the option "Save Link as . . ."] (7.3 mb) to a temporary directory on your computer.

2.  After the file has been downloaded, double-click on liblicr1.exe to extract the setup files to a directory on your computer.

3.  Double-click on setup.exe and follow the onscreen instructions to install the program on your computer.

4.  Read the Readme.txt and Help file  included with the software for instructions on operating the software.  Read the Frequently Asked Questions file for the latest information on the software..

If after installing the software, it appears that the font is incorrect or that the text of the program doesn't look right, there may have been a problem in installing the correct font for the software to display properly. Please e-mail rodney.stenlake@aya.yale.edu for a solution to this problem.

If, after installing the software, you receive an error message:   "This control requires version 4.70 or greater of COMCTL32.DLL", you may need to download the file 40comupd.exe. [again, click on right button and "Save Link as . . ."] See the FAQ for information on installing this file on your computer.
