Become an NGWA Member Membership in NGWA (the National Ground Water Association), a private, not-for-profit trade and professional organization founded in 1948, indicates that the contractor has invested in his or her professionalism by joining an association dedicated to supporting and enhancing the expertise of members through continuing education and information exchange. If you are involved in the ground water industry, find out more about becoming a member.
Persons identified as a "Certified Well Driller" (CWD) and/or "Certified Pump Installer" (CPI or CWD/PI) have earned these designations by passing exams testing their expertise generally and in specific categories. To maintain certification, they must take and report continuing education courses, adhere to high professional standards and have no legal action pending against them pertinent to well construction or water systems installation.
Master Ground Water Contractor (MGWC) is the highest level of certification a contractor can receive, recognizing exceptional knowledge and dedication in water well construction and pump installation. It is earned through more rigorous testing and a minimum of five years full-time experience in well construction or pump installation.
