Huey_P._Long_Bridge_Widening:_ Preserving the past, embracing the present and building the future. The Huey P. Long Bridge Widening Project was officially kicked off at a groundbreaking ceremony April 27, 2006.

The primary purpose of the $660 million project is to widen the bridge to six lanes and enhance safety, emergency evacuation, economic development, quality of life and connectivity between the east and west banks of Jefferson Parish. The entire project will be complete by the end of 2011. More
