Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

VA Programs

Listed below are some of the many programs VA and other federal agencies operate to benefit veterans and others.

Center for Minority Veterans (VA)

The Center for Minority Veterans assists eligible veterans in their efforts to receive benefits and services from VA. The Center acts only as a mediator and facilitator -- As such the Center does not process claims, handle equal employment complaints, or employee relation problems. The Center is dedicated to ensuring that all veterans are aware of benefits, services, and programs offered by VA.

Center for Veterans Enterprise (VA)

Federal Agencies and private businesses have told VA that they cannot find enough veteran-owned businesses to meet their goals and contracting objectives. Veteran-owned businesses have told VA that they cannot afford to market to all potential federal customers or even understand how to locate them. CVE provides information that leads to opportunities for service-disable veterans business to increase their contracting and subcontracting.

Center for Women Veterans (VA)

The Center for Women Veterans ensures that VA health care and benefits programs are responsive to the gender-specific needs of women veterans and that women veterans have access to VA benefits and services.

Chaplain Service Veterans Community Outreach Initiatives (VA)

A half-day training event focused on the needs of Amercia's newest veterans and their families. Learn more about their needs and how you and your faith community can help. For more information please, click here

Homeless Assistance Programs & Initiatives (VA)

The homeless programs promote the development and provision of housing and other supportive services. Homeless veterans achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels and/or income, and obtain greater self-determination. 

Loan Guaranty Service (VA)

  • Loan Guaranty Service Sales to Homeless Provider Information Sheet

    Non-profit organizations including faith-based non-profit may be eligible to purchase Depertment of Veterns Affairs (VA) acquired properties at a discount.  The non-profit must agree to use the property as a shelter for homeless veterans and their famillies for not less than 3 years.  For more information please, click here (32.5KB PDF)

  • Loan Guaranty Service Sales to Homeless Provider Fact Sheet

    The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Loan Guaranty Service Acquired Property Sales to Homeless Providers program is designed to make available single-family homes at a discount off of of the list price for the purpose of estalishing homeless shelters for primarly homeless veterans.  For more information please, click here (170 KB PDF)

National Cemetery Administration (VA)

NCA is responsible for providing burial benefits to veterans and eligible dependents. The delivery of these benefits involves managing National Cemeteries, providing grave markers, administering the State Cemetery Grants Program that complements the National Cemeteries network, and providing Presidential Memorial Certificates to next of kin of deceased veterans.

    The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a government headstone or marker for the grave of an deceased eligible veterans in any cemetery around the world.  For more information please, click here  (209 KB PDF)

  • NCA Volunteerism Infomation Sheet

    The National Cemetery Administration (NCA) provides many volunteer opportunities to the public serving America's vetetans.  Volunteers help NCA to meet our missionn of providing burial space for America's veterans and maintaining our cemeteries as national shrines.   For more information please, click here (170 KB PDF)

National Rehabilitation Special Events (VA)

Each year, VA sponsors four national events for U.S. military veterans served by VA medical facilities nationwide. Each program enhances the physical, social, and emotional well-being of veterans who participate. Veterans involved in these events - and the hundreds of VA employees and volunteers who support them each year - all share a strong sense of purpose and camaraderie. Veterans Benefits Administration (VA)

VBA provides benefits and services to the veteran population through 58 VA regional offices. Some of the benefits and services for veterans and their dependents include compensation and pension, education, loan guaranty, and insurance. VA Voluntary Services (VA)

The Department of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS) Program, the largest volunteer program in the federal government, has provided over 56 years of service to America’s veterans seeking care in VA health care facilities and in community-based programs.

VA Voluntary Service is the larget volunteer program in the Federal government.  Primarly through a stong partnership with community organizations VA Voluntary Service has provide over 663.5 milliom hours of service to meet veteran health care needs. For more information please, click here
