The Microsystems & Materials Mechanics Test Facilities at Sandia National Laboratories, California conduct experimental research and development work, including fracture and failure mechanics, validation of massively parallel engineering mechanics codes, and mechanical testing. Recently, studies have begun in evaluating the mechanical performance of LIGA-based micro system components. All of this work is done for our Department of Energy customers, but, on occasion, work is done for other customers. The following research facilities are available:
