Information about legislation and regulations impacting the ground water industry

  • Ground water sustainability — regards the development and use of ground water to meet current and future purposes without causing unacceptable consequences. Find out about the factors that contribute to local, regional, or statewide ground water shortages, the strategies that can be implemented to promote a sustainable ground water supply, and what resources or tools are need to implement these strategies successfully.
  • Brownfields legislation — President George W. Bush signed into law on January 11, 2002, legislation that addresses brownfields sites, urban and rural areas that are, or that have the potential to be, contaminated from past land use. The EPA published the final rules for all appropriate inquiry prior to property transfer on November 1, 2005.
  • Climate Change Legislation Design White Papers — The Committee on Energy and Commerce and its Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality are issuing a series of Climate Change Legislation Design White Papers as the next step toward enactment of a mandatory, economywide climate change program.
