Low-income households boost Florida’s consumer confidence

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s consumer confidence rose three points to 80 in October largely due to optimism among low-income residents, a new University of Florida study finds.

Lower income consumers are apparently seeing sunny skies ahead. The University of Florida’s latest index of statewide consumer confidence tracked a three point increase in October, driven mainly by lower income consumers. Here’s UF economist Chris McCarty.
