Resources for Book Publishers
Each year and for over twenty years, the AAP has commissioned a study of compensation and personnel practices within the U.S. publishing industry. This survey, which is designed by human resources professionals, gathers and reports compensation and benefits information compiled from book publishers ranging from the largest media organizations in the U.S through medium sized organizations and small imprints. In 2006 the report included nearly 50 participants and over 130 jobs surveyed. Reporting compensation data was based on 16,436 employees in the 2006 survey versus 14,888 in 2005, an increase of 10.4 percent.
Recently, the AAP introduced individual customized reports to all participants. This allows participants to see their data compared to the compensation data of the rest of the market. Also included is an expanded personnel policies and practices section, giving companies an opportunity to see benefit practices and their prevalence in the book publishing industry.
